Michigan is one of the top five medical marijuana states in America, according to an infographic by Marijuana Business Daily.

The latest report presents a comparison of states that have legalized marijuana for medicinal use and the number of patients enrolled per thousand people. Of course, Colorado is the reigning champion in this regard with slightly over 22 patients for every 1,000 people

However, Michigan ranked fifth in the study, with roughly over 12 medical marijuana patients per 1,000 residents. This is rather impressive considering the U.S. is now home to 23 states with medical marijuana programs. Although in all fairness, some of these programs are not yet up and running. Yet, Michigan did manage to beat the national average, which is 10 patients per 1,000 people.

Michigan voters approved a statewide medical marijuana program in 2008 and it is one of the top ten populated states in the nation.
