A day after performing at President Trump's Inaugural ball, Chrisette Michele clapped back at Spike Lee (albeit through her husband) after the filmmaker slammed her for agreeing to perform at the event. The famed director also added that he won't use her song "Black Girl Magic" for his new Netflix show, She's Gotta Have It.

Michele also received a ton of backlash from her fans on social media as well. But that didn't deter the singer who performed "Intentional" alongside gospel singer Travis Greene at Trump's Inaugural ball. On Saturday (Jan. 21), Michele tweeted this, "An open letter from my fiancé to @SpikeLee | And for those of you who don't know who Basquiat is, do your research" along with the hashtag #NoPoliticalGenius. She would later delete the tweet, but as you know, nothing really disappears on the internet.

Apparently, Michele's husband, Doug “Biggs” Ellison, posted a photo on his Instagram page of a Basquiat painting with the caption, "Open letter to [Spike Lee] - "F--- You!" (You can see the photo above.)

Meanwhile, Michele went on her IG and posted a picture of herself and Greene at Trump's Inaugural ball. She wrote in the caption, "I had an amazing time lifting up the name of Jesus last night with my friend. | Thank you to @aliceandolivia for the collaborative, CFDA and Basquiat piece I wore to the ball. The proceeds support the advancement of the creative arts...a place that is being stripped, in order to reduce "government spending."

Spike Lee has not responded to Michele and her husband's remarks.
