Coachella Organizers Insist Gucci Mane’s Name Was Not Misspelled on Lineup Flyer
It looks like the alleged Gucci Mane typo on Coachella's website might have actually been a false alarm. Speaking with TMZ earlier today (Jan. 3), a rep for the festival said that organizers had, in fact, intended to spell out the phrase "Gucci Gang" instead of "Gucci Mane" on the text overlaid onto a GuWop image they used for their 2019 Coachella lineup.
As we initially reported, the internet was quick to point out the perceived mistake when Coachella posted their promo for 2019 Coachella late last night (Jan. 2). It was then that they made the aforementioned GuWop post that ended up raising eyebrows. When people began pointing out the suspected typo, fans began pointing toward the possibility of Gucci Gang referring to a newly formed trio comprised of Gucci Mane, Lil Pump and Smokepurpp. The idea was that the group would be named after Pump's massive 2017 single "Gucci Gang."
None of the rappers involved in that theoretical group have spoken on the possibility of performing as a group at 2019 Coachella, but the festival organizers have updated the Gucci Gang part of the promo site to include a three-way split image of GuWop, Purpp and Pump. So maybe that's really happening? We'll find out for sure when this year's iteration of the star-studded festival begins. This year's fest will also include performances from Kid Cudi, Anderson .Paak, Juice Wrld, Jaden Smith, Tierra Whack, JPEGMafia, Wiz Khalifa, Sheck Wes, Virgil Abloh, Smino, TDE's SiR, Murda Beatz, Ella Mai, J. Balvin and more.
2019 Coachella will take place on on Fri, April 12 to Sat. April 14 and then Fri., April 19 to Sun., April 21.
