Detroit Tigers great Al Kaline has passed away at the age of 85.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Al Kaline died Monday (April 6) afternoon at his home in Bloomfield Hills. He was 85.

The cause of his death has not been announced.

Al Kaline signed with the Detroit Tigers the morning after he graduated from high school. He spent 22 seasons with the team and played more games and hit more home runs than anyone else in club history.

Kaline is survived by another son, Mark, and his wife, Madge Louise Hamilton.
