DMX is just a couple of days away from finding out his fate in his tax evasion case, but his legal team has a plan to try and persuade the judge to lighten up his sentence. According to NY Times, court documents, which went public yesterday (March 26), reveal that the Yonkers rapper's lawyers are going to play his music for the judge during the sentencing.

DMX's attorney Murray Richman believes that playing the veteran MC's songs for U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff will help him to "understand him [DMX] genuinely in his voice." Richman believes that X may be too emotional to speak, so playing his music may be a much better way to display his voice in the proper light.

According to the documents, Richman sent over the lyrics to "Slippin'" and "The Convo," which he believes flaunts the "beauty of mind and his genius" to listeners. Along with the push to listen to DMX's music, his lawyer has also suggested a different resolution to the tax evasion case, which includes placing the rapper in a 60-day study by qualified consultants, as opposed to prison time. He believes this will help X in his rehabilitation, giving him a chance to return to performing, where he can make money to pay off the $1.7 million in taxes, as well as support his 15 children.

If you recall, DMX was sent back behind bars in January when Judge Rakoff revoked his bail after he failed to obey bail conditions. He previously pleaded guilty to the tax evasion charges against him. Last week, prosecutors filed papers that called the New York native "crime brazen" and sought a five-year prison sentence for him.

We will keep you updated on DMX's case as details roll out.
