The Flint City Bucks soccer team is hosting their inaugural First Responder Appreciation night for the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

The Bucks are wrapping up another incredible season, and will look to pick up another win over Rebels FC this weekend. Obviously with the 20th anniversary of 9/11 coming this Saturday, it only makes sense for the Bucks to honor local heroes. We all remember the images of first responders running into the chaos that was happening that day. That's obviously one of the main reasons the Bucks chose to honor first responders, but that will not be the only 9/11 tribute happening at the game.

The night will get started with a special ceremony honoring first responders. Local historian Gary Fisher will deliver the remarks before kickoff, honoring local heroes that were in New York on 9/11.

The game will feature free tickets for all first responders in Genesee County, along with their families. There will be emergency vehicles on scene for kids to see and tour, along with a oversized kidszone inside Atwood during the game. You can get all of the details about the special tribute game here.

The match is scheduled to get started at 7:30 pm Saturday, September 11th at historic Atwood Stadium. If you are not a first responder, you can still afford to bring the whole family for the special night. Tickets are $5 for kids 12-under, $10 for adults and $15 for VIP reserved.

The 20th anniversary of 9/11 is going to dominate the news this week, and no doubt will take an emotional on some. Please remember that this is a day that changed the way we live forever, and the painful memories are still very real for most of us. It is not a day to celebrate, but to remember, and honor all of the innocent lives lost that day.
