One thing about Flint residents, we respond. The current water crisis has moved residents to action to help one another. Flint community activists have come together to giveaway bottled water.

Leon El-Alamin and members of M.A.D.E. Institute are scheduled to giveaway 200 cases of water on February 28th at 6:30pm at Second Chance Baptist Church. The church is located at 1005 Moore Street. El-Alamin was moved to host the water giveaway after seeing many residents turned away at a bottled water giveaway weeks ago.

The community activists will distribute the 200 cases of water due to the current fear of how safe the drinking water is in our area. It will be first come, first serve opportunity. Leon told MLive that water giveaway a couple weeks ago was over with quickly.

"There was an overwhelming display of humility and love from those who went to the last giveaway," El-Alamin said. "The cases were gone within 15 to 20 minutes."

I think this giveaway was will be great but I thought the consultant from the City of Flint said the water was safe to drink? It is great to see residents come together and address issues with solutions. We need more examples like this to spark more people to get involved.
