Flint Has Money To Help Residents With Water Bills, Here’s How To Claim Your Share
Flint has been awarded nearly half a million dollars to help residents with water bills, but you have to qualify to claim your share.
The $425,000 grant is coming from the Great Lakes Water Authority. It is part of a $1.2 Million from the Water Residental Assistance Program (WRAP) that is assigned to Detroit and Flint.
Some of the money will be used to replace kitchen and bathroom fixtures, while some will focus on bill paying assistance.
To get the help, you must apply online and meet the qualifications.
- Income at or below 150% of the federal poverty threshhold
- Install a new automatic meter reading device
- Provide proof of residency and income
- Stay current on monthly bills
Once enrolled in the program, residents can get $25 monthly credits to help with water bills. After payments have been made in full for six months, an additional $350 will be given toward water bill debts.
