Police in West Virginia have arrested a Flint man who was said to be trafficking 49 pounds of marijuana. A traffic stop led to the arrest of 51-year-old Keith Maupin who was carrying marijuana which was valued at $122,500.

The Kanawha County sheriff's department posted about the bust on its Facebook page on Saturday, saying: Maupin was charged with possession with intent to deliver.

"On Saturday May 28th 2022 while on patrol, Corporal Lyons and K9 D’Jambo assisted Deputy Barbagallo on a traffic stop. During the traffic stop and roadside interview, Cpl. Lyons discovered that the driver, Keith Maupin (51 years old) from Flint, Michigan was trafficking 49lbs of marijuana packaged in 48 separate bags. The street value of the marijuana seized is $122,500.00.

 

As always in any criminal case, suspects are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. #KCSOWV"

 

Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Flint Man's Arrest

Fox 11 Eyewitness News reports that Maupin was initially stopped for a traffic infraction. Deputies then spotted a small amount of marijuana and observed that Maupin appeared nervous.

A search of the vehicle revealed that Maupin was transporting 49 pounds of weed.

Held in a West Virginia Jail

The Flint man was then transported to South Central Regional Jail in West Virginia where he is awaiting processing. He's being held on $50,000 bail.
