French Montana Hit With $5 Million Lawsuit for Allegedly Stealing “Ain’t Worried About Nothin” Beat: Report
One music producer has reportedly hit French Montana hit with a $5 million lawsuit over the rapper's hit 2013 single, “Ain’t Worried About Nothin.”
According to a report TMZ published Friday (April 5), Eddie Lee Richardson (aka Hotwire the Producer) filed legal documents against the Bronx rapper claiming that he swiped his instrumental of “Hood* Pushin Weight” from the producer's SoundClick page in 2012. Richardson says French used it for his song, “Ain’t Worried About Nothin.”
In his suit, Hotwire states that his song uses “unique and artistic array of digital sounds and rhythms" and it's also tagged to prevent people from stealing his musical works from off the Internet. In addition, he believes French’s track duplicates elements of his original song that he created, but the only difference is the rapper’s lyrics are on top of the beat.
French's “Ain’t Worried About Nothin” appeared on his debut album, Excuse My French. It spawned an official remix featuring rappers Rick Ross, Diddy and Snoop Dogg. In addition, another remix of the song was released featuring Miley Cyrus.
