Due to the rise of concerns on social media the Genesee County Health Department released a PSA advising residents what to look for and how to avoid catching the drug resistant bacteria.

Residents in Genesee County are being told that the new drug resistant bacteria Stenotrophomonas is a rare cause of infection that attacks the respiratory tract and can cause high fever, shortness of breath, and even pneumonia.

Those with a weakened immune system or are taking medication to weaken the immune system are most at risk. For more information on what to look for click here.
