Gucci Mane and T-Pain Link With Steve Aoki and Yellow Claw for New Song “Lit”
Lauded DJ and producer Steve Aoki and Yellow Claw, an EDM DJ and production duo from Amsterdam, connect with Gucci Mane and T-Pain for "Lit," Aoki's newest single off his Kolony album.
Steve Aoki has a remarkable ability of blending new sounds together and he doesn't disappoint on this high-energy record, which meshes Gucci Mane's trap star bravado with T-Pain's boisterous vocals over production from Aoki and Yellow Claw. Teddy P, who supplies the hook, interpolates lyrics from Queen's iconic "We Will Rock You." Gucci delivers two stellar verses between Aoki's drops.
“Yellow Rollie on my wrist, same color my yellow bitch/I say I ain’t got no type, but I prefer ’em super thick/I was born for this shit, you too borin’ for the bitch,” Guwop raps.
"T-Pain was in Vegas and I was FaceTiming him until he woke up and I got him to come over my house and jump in my pool, it's kind of initiation," Aoki says to XXL about how the record came together. "After we were having fun, I played him the beat and he's wildin' out. I got him in the booth and gave him an idea of the songs I'm going for. I kept singing 'All I do is win' over and over again and then he came up with this hook, T-Pain style. He sings a Queen line and I'm like, we're never going to get this cleared. But he got it cleared, it was fucking crazy. Then we said we need to get Gucci on this, it will be sick. I sent it over to Gucci's camp and he loved it and he did his thing and then Yellow Claw touched it up."
Aoki's new album Kolony features guest appearances from 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Wale, Ma$e, Lil Uzi Vert, T-Pain, iLoveMakonnen and more. The album follows up Aoki’s last project, Neon Future II. The super-producer previously released the 2 Chainz-assisted single “Without U,” “I Can’t Lose” with Lil Uzi Vert and “Night Call” featuring Migos and Lil Yachty.
