Hamady High School Celebrates A New Field During Homecoming Tonight
The Hamady Hawks hope to continue their record setting season as they kickoff Homecoming in their new football field tonight.
Homecoming is always a big game at any school throughout Michigan, but Hamady has more reason than anyone to celebrate tonight. The $3 Million stadium is unlike anything Hamady has ever had before. In a press release the upgrades are listed.
The new stadium features a new state of the art football field with all season turf, new track, seating, press box and concessions and restroom facilities.
The grand opening celebration could not come at a better time. The Hawks are undefeated (7-0) going into tonight's Homecoming game against Bendle. The celebration will include a tailgate starting at 4 pm in the Hamady High School parking lot. There will be plenty of activities including a charity car smash, games, food trucks, music and the Homecoming Parade.
The parade starts at 5 pm running from Academy West to Hamady High School. There will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 6:30 pm to mark the official opening of the new stadium followed by kickoff at 7 pm.
Hamady Superintendent Peter Toal talked about what this means for the district in the press release saying,
We are excited to see a project like this going up in Genesee County to serve our students and our community. It has been decades since we have hosted a track meet, and we have never had a soccer field to play on. Our students deserve the same opportunities as other districts and this facility will help us to achieve that goal
Club 93.7 will also be at the tailgate starting at around 4:30 pm. Check out the video below that ABC12 captured of the Hamady football team practicing on their new field for the first time.
