Ice Cube Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Many may say this was a long time coming, but now it's finally happened. Ice Cube was presented with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today outside the Musician's Institute. The rapper, actor, director and writer kept it classic by showing up in all black and a Dodgers hat for the event.
Ice Cube opened his speech with his signature "Yeah, yeah!" He then explained how much he was thankful for the occasion and how he never expected to receive an honor as a kid. He specifically thanked his family, especially his mom and dad, for supporting him. Rapper WC and director John Singleton (director of Boyz N the Hood and 2000's Shaft) also delivered some speeches on Ice Cube's impact on the entertainment world. WC specifically remembered how Cube's lyrics, even as children, were powerful. Singleton describes his admiration of Friday and thanked Cube for his illustrious IMDB resume: "I wouldn't have a career if it wasn't for this dude." Dr. Dre was also in attendance.
Cube has been having a phenomenal year, releasing a 25th anniversary edition for Death Certificate, signing to Interscope, executive producing Hollywood Squares, and humbling Bill Maher. And to much anticipation, he also confirmed he's been working on a new Friday film titled Last Friday.
