This pyramid was built in 1989 for a company named Steelcase.

The seven-story, 664,000 square foot building was designed by the architectural firm The WBDC Group and built by Barnes Construction Co.

The pyramid contains massive sub-levels with workshops, testing labs, freezers, and sound-testing rooms that were used for Steelcase's furniture research and development needs.

In 2017, the data center company Switch acquired the pyramid for a reported $22.2 million and began converting it into a high-security, futuristic data center campus.

They company has invested over $1 billion to redevelop the pyramid, adding over 2 million square feet of data center space and up to 320MW of power capacity.

The pyramid's iconic 71-foot spherical pendulum, designed to swing towards the rising and setting sun, remains as a remnant of its Steelcase days.

Check out this video that takes you inside the Iconic pyramid and shows what it looks like since Switch Data Centers bought it.
