Detroit’s Eminem Shares Sweet Letter From Dolly Parton

It’s a kind gesture like this that reminds us just how special Dolly Parton was. After her passing, Eminem shared a personal note Dolly had sent him years ago, and it is a very sweet story.

Dolly wrote to the Detroit rapper after they were both inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Even though the two never got the chance to meet, Dolly told him she had always felt an unexplained connection to him and wanted him to know how much she admired what he did.

When Eminem shared the letter on social media yesterday, he had this to say:

I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind word.

Of course, there were so many wonderful tributes to Dolly Parton when news broke of her passing, and they will continue to pour in - but this one really stood out, not just to me, but to so many of Dolly’s fans.

Dolly was truly a class act all the way. She made such a lasting impact on so many lives through her music, kindness, and incredible spirit. She was one of a kind, and her music, legacy, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on for years to come.
