On June 7th, Josh Walker of Flushing had just pulled out of his driveway and started driving toward Carpenter Road from Dillon Road when he noticed an eagle hovering above.
As Walker turned east onto Carpenter Road, the circle of life unfolded before his eyes. He watched in awe as the eagle swooped down from the sky and snatched up what seemed to be a very young raccoon. With a powerful lift, the eagle soared away, leaving Walker in disbelief at what he had just witnessed.
Josh Walker:
Yesterday (June 7, 2023) I just left my driveway and began driving towards carpenter road from Dillon Road. I was headed to Flushing’s nature trail to get a run-in.
As I turned east on to carpenter I noticed the eagle hovering and swooped down snatching a young raccoon that was running in a big open field. The eagle snatched the raccoon with its talons and flew off with the raccoon attempting to get loose but was unsuccessful. That is when I grabbed my phone and started taking pictures. It took me a minute though because I was in disbelief.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
We would like to thank Josh for sharing his photos with us and would also like to wish him a happy birthday as today (Thursday) he turns 40 today.
