A recent video of Genesee Valley Center has left many Genesee County residents confused.

The video was filmed on February 13th, 2025, and takes viewers on a tour of the Flint Township mall.

It is not a secret that Genesee Valley Center has seen better days, but don't be fooled by the video titled ' Explore Genesee Valley Mall, Walk Through, Last Days'.

Macy's is permanently closing on Monday, March 31st, 2025. However, the Genesee Valley Center is not. This seems to be what most of the confusion is about.

If my count is correct, once Macy's and BoxLunch close this month, that leaves only 23 operating stores (kiosks not included) at Genesee Valley Center.

You can view a photo gallery of open stores (as of now) at the GVC below.

Do you still shop at Genesee Valley Center? I was just at Claire's recently to buy silk gloves for the annual 80s prom at The Machine Shop. The popular accessories store was busy when I was there, unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the rest of the mall.

It was pretty much a ghost town, as you will see in the mall walk-through video below.

There was a time when I would camp overnight in front of Hudson's (now Macy's) at Genesee Valley Center, to buy concert tickets. Does anyone else remember doing that?

Fast forward to 2025, and how we purchase concert tickets and shop has certainly changed.

As for the future of Genesee Valley Center, that remains to be seen.

Shady Acres Trailer Park in Flint 2016

Shady Acres Trailer Park, Flint, Michigan—Photos from around 2016. The park was established back in 1982 but was abandoned in 2015 when the owner disappeared, leaving behind $120,000 in unpaid water and sewer bills. With no heat or utilities, the residents were left in a tough spot, and the park never recovered. Shady Acres was demolished in 2019.
