Well-known photographer Shannon Kivi (906 Images) took a photo during the summer of two brothers jumping from a cliff into the chilly Lake Superior waters with the sun rising in the background. He really captured a special moment.

Kivi repeated that special moment when he took another photo from the same spot on October 17 during the Upper Peninsula's first early-season winter storm. However, this photo looked entirely different as he captured some monster waves crashing into the cliffs.

He took both photos, placed them into a collage, and shared them on his Facebook page.

Shannon Kivi:

I took the bottom picture this summer on a nice sunny morning at Blackrocks... I met these two brothers, who were jumping in at sunrise while their dad overwatched. I couldn't pass the opportunity for a photo as it was a first for me and such a cool shot.
The top picture was from last Monday 10-17-22 when the big Northern gales blew in, producing up to 20' waves. I made a collage to give you a reference to the size of the waves rolling in.

Both photos are compelling and really show two sides of Michigan's beauty.

As I've mentioned in the past, Kivi's photography is pure Michigan gold. If you'd like to see more photos and videos from Shannon Kivi, you can follow him at 906 Images on Facebook or Instagram.
