Daylight Saving Time in Michigan is this weekend. On Sunday, March 9th, 2025 at 2:00 AM we spring forward.

We will lose an hour, but the positives outweigh the negatives. It will no longer be dark at 5:00 PM, and we are getting closer to spring.

If a Michigan lawmaker has his way, we might say goodbye to Daylight Saving Time in Michigan permanently.

Republican State Senator Thomas Albert from Lowell, Michigan, wants to let voters decide whether to end Daylight Saving Time in the Great Lakes State.

According to CBS News, Mr. Albert introduced Senate Bill 126 on Thursday, March 6, 2025, to eliminate Daylight Saving Time in Michigan. The next step is to the Senate Committee on Government Operations.

If the Michigan Legislature passes the bill, voters will see it on the ballot. I can tell you right now, I would vote to end it. What about you?

Senator Thomas Albert made the following remarks regarding this issue,

Is switching to daylight saving time worth the headaches? Does it have any valid reason for continuing in this day and age? I personally would say ‘no,’ but obviously opinions differ. We should let the people of Michigan decide once and for all.

As of now, Arizona and Hawaii are the only states that do not observe Daylight Saving Time, could Michigan be next?

Until that day comes, remember to spring forward this weekend.
