Will New Rules At Michigan Starbucks Include Panic Buttons?
Starbucks is not playing. As of 2025, guests are no longer welcome to use Starbucks restrooms or sit inside without purchasing something, and now the addition of panic buttons could be next.
If you think a panic button sounds dramatic, think again. We all know anything can happen at any time. If these buttons are implemented nationwide, they could help to avoid a serious situation, or even save lives.
According to the New York Post, panic buttons were tested at five Starbucks locations in the US. When the 'panic button' is activated, a series of security measures come into play, including alerting authorities and the front door automatically locking.
Be that as it may, reports indicate that Starbucks has decided not to move forward with panic buttons.
However, Starbucks will continue with the decision that non-paying customers are not welcome. If you want to hang out at a local Starbucks, plan on eating or drinking something.
Starbucks also has a new code of conduct throughout the United States. The following will not be tolerated,
- Discrimination
- Harassment
- Alcohol
- Panhandling
- Smoking
- Vaping
I feel like not doing any of those things goes without saying, but you never know. These rules (I would think) apply to most businesses.
