A tragedy is under investigation in Flint after a 9-year-old little girl named Tyhari Knox lost her life. She was shot while sleeping in her own bed.

More Than 200 Shots Fired Into Flint Home

According to Flint police, multiple shooters opened fire on a home in the Mott Park neighborhood early Friday morning, unloading more than 200 rounds into the house. Think about that for a second. More than 200 shots fired into a home where children were sleeping.

Tyhari was killed in the attack, and her 12-year-old sister, Allyson Galloway, was also struck. Thankfully, police say Allyson has already been released from the hospital and is expected to recover physically, but you can only imagine the emotional scars this leaves behind for that family and everybody connected to them.

Flint Police Say Shooting Was Targeted

Flint Police Chief Terence Green called this a targeted attack and made it very clear that this case is now the department’s top priority. He said investigators have strong leads and feels confident arrests are coming soon.

You can also hear the frustration in his voice because this keeps happening. Kids are getting caught in violence they have absolutely nothing to do with.

Community Holds Vigil for Tyhari Knox

WJRT-TV reported that the community gathered for a vigil over the weekend to remember Tyhari, and moments like that remind you how connected Flint really is when tragedy hits close to home.
