Michigan Has Two of the Best Indoor Water Parks in the U.S.
Michigan is a wonderful tourist destination for people all over the world. We literally offer a little bit of everything. But one thing Mother Nature won’t let us enjoy year-round is a sunny oasis in the form of a water park, with the sun beating down on you as you float down a lazy river.

Face it, in January, you’d most likely be stuck on a frozen river in the middle of a blizzard.
Why Indoor Water Parks Thrive in Michigan
Luckily, indoor water parks have been popping up all over the state. Because of Michigan’s notorious reputation for rough weather, not just in winter but throughout the year, engineers and designers have created some awesome destinations that can handle whatever Mother Nature throws at us.

In fact, USA Today recently released a list of the Top 10 Indoor Water Parks in the U.S., and two Michigan destinations made the rankings.

Here’s what USA Today had to say about the Number 9 spot:
Great Wolf Lodge Resorts is a pack of indoor water park getaways across the U.S. and Canada, where swimsuits are always in season. Each resort splashes out with tube rides, wave pools, water slides, hot tubs, surfing simulators, and at select locations, there's outdoor water fun when the weather warms up.
Frankenmuth’s Bavarian Blast Cracks the Top 5
Coming in at Number 4 is a local favorite right here in Mid-Michigan. Bavarian Blast Waterpark, located at Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth, was named one of the Top 5 indoor water parks in America.

Here’s what USA Today had to say:
The glass roof and walls at this indoor oasis at Bavarian Inn Lodge flood the space with natural light year-round, lending tropical vibes to Frankenmuth's snowy winters. There are enough aquatic attractions to tire out even the most enthusiastic kids. The centerpiece is a multi-story water slide complex with body and tube slides for one to six riders, but you'll also find a (not so) lazy river, activity pool with basketball hoops, and a zero-depth entry area perfect for toddlers still mastering their sea legs. Adults appreciate Michigan’s first-ever swim-up bar, too.
