
Dog Walker Discovers Human Remains Near Mid-Michigan County Courthouse
Since January, we’ve reported on several cases involving human remains discovered in different parts of Michigan. Now, there’s another case — this time just south of the Genesee County line.
Human Remains Found in Pontiac Wooded Area Near County Courthouse
Human remains were discovered Tuesday morning in a wooded area just south of the Oakland County Circuit Court building in Pontiac.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a dog walker discovered the remains. Deputies say they were in an advanced state of decomposition and appear to belong to an adult male.
Michigan Investigators Find a Clue That May Help Identify the Victim
And investigators have one unusual clue that could help them figure out who the man was. A patient identification bracelet was found near the remains. Investigators are now working to determine which medical facility issued the bracelet and whether it can help them identify the deceased.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard told WXYZ that investigators don’t want to release additional information until they can confirm the man’s identity and notify his family.
County Sheriff Estimates How Long The Body Was Decomposing

Bouchard also gave investigators a rough idea of how long the remains may have been in the wooded area. He said the summer heat suggests the body may have been there for several weeks, possibly around a month.

The discovery adds to a growing list of human-remains cases reported around Michigan this year.
Discoveries of Human Remains in Michigan Leaves Residents Unsettled
Here in Mid-Michigan, those cases have included human remains discovered near the Fenton Township water tower, a body found in a pond near a Flint-area high school and four sets of human remains discovered on property in Thetford Township.

There were also two separate discoveries at a Saginaw Meijer within days of each other. And another case involved human remains found along the side of a heavily traveled Michigan freeway.
Investigation Into The Decomposing Body Near The Oakland Courthouse Continues

For now, investigators in Pontiac are focused on identifying the man and determining how he ended up in the wooded area near the courthouse.
