A familiar Mid‑Michigan TV anchor is signing off. Fans are already sharing memories online, as the beloved news personality shared her emotional goodbye on Facebook. TV news in the Flint and Saginaw area won’t be the same.

After a dozen years in Mid-Michigan, a marriage to another popular TV personality, and a brand-new baby, Meg McLeod announced that she'll be leaving WNEM-TV, Channel 5, on Friday, March 20.

A Love Letter to Mid-Michigan

McLeod, who is married to former TV-5 reporter Andrew Keller, made the announcement on Facebook, penning what she called "A Love Letter to Mid-Michigan."

She noted that she initially saw the Flint/Saginaw TV market as a stepping stone in her career, not anticipating that she would put down roots.

"Nearly 12 years ago, this Northeasterner, by way of Missouri, stepped foot in Michigan for the first time. What I thought would be a short stint before moving back to the East Coast has turned into more than a decade of building lifelong friendships, meeting some of the most incredible people and, of course, doing my best every day to serve you at home with the news.

Mid-Michigan has given me my husband, some of my dearest friends, a beautiful home to raise our babies in and a chance to realize my biggest dreams."

Although McLeod didn’t hint at what her next steps would be, she indicated in October of last year that she may not seek to renew her contract with the station after her former co-anchor David Custer won his retaliation lawsuit against the Saginaw news outlet.

"My vision might be blurry as I try to type these words, but my thoughts are clear: I cannot adequately express how thankful I am for each and every one of you and this beautiful place we call home.

I have been unbelievably fortunate to live out my passion for local news, and I hope you'll continue to support your local journalists long after I've put the mic down.

As for what's next, I hope I'll be able to share that with you in the next few weeks."

McLeod’s last day with WNEM-TV is scheduled for March 20.
