J Cole has put out eleventy billion more mixtapes than he has albums so far.  (eleventy billion may be a bit of an over exaggeration).  He has started to catch some heat though from fans and critics about the long wait for his debut album, "The Sideline Story".

J Cole addressed the criticisms by tweeting that he will not release any mixtapes before the September 27th street date of "The Sideline Story".  He hasn't technically broken that promise since "Any Given Sunday" is only an EP.  Who am I kidding? We don't care, it's free J Cole music.

Here are the liner notes for the 5 songs from J Cole.

01 Like A Star: “Was saving this for the 2nd album. Due to some other shit beyond my control, I’ma let this out now.”
02 Knock On Wood: “One of my fav. freestyles. OG Dreamvillains gotta be reminded, new fans gotta get put on.”
03 Pity: “Brand new J. Cole, Omen, Voli. Produced by Voli @volitheentity”
04 How High: “at one point this was guaranteed to go on The Sideline Story.”
05 Unabomber: “Just heard this today for the first time in a longgg time. Love these raps.”

According to Cole, track 4 was supposed to actually be on his new CD.  With his future seemingly teetering on this album he needs to deliver.  J Cole will release a new piece of the puzzle every week leading up to the album.  It might be a video, a lost track or maybe a 5 song EP . . . like this one.

Do you think he can live up to the hype he has built, or will "Friday Night Lights" be as good as it gets?
