For the song, which is an easygoing one with tranquil instrumentation from from The Free Nationals, Uchis sings about love and Mac lets loose bars about the time relationships need to evolve. "We just need some time/Keep watch, let it all unwind/Of course you get yours, I get mine, and in the end everything'll be fine—it's by design," Miller spits.
Notably, .Paak, who's an artist known to be a member of The Free Nationals, doesn't appear on the new song. Miller and .Paak had previously collabed on "Dang!" which is a song from the Pittsburgh rapper's experimental 2016 album, The Divine Feminine. Months after Miller's death, .Paak paid tribute to the rapper during his performance at the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards. For his tribute, he eulogized the rapper.
"Legends never die," .Paak said amidst his performance. "And Mac Miller not was, but is, a whole legend."
