Michigan Service Employee’s Hurt By The Shutdown Can Apply For $1,650 Grant Today

The partial shutdown in Michigan has wreaked havoc on everyone working in the service industry, but there is some financial help on the way.

The Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association Educational Foundation is accepting applications now for a $1,650 grant for employee's hurting during the shutdown. The money is coming from the $45 Million relief fund that Governor Whitmer put in place to help Michigan workers. This is some good news for workers as most Michigan restaurants prepare to open partially on February 1st.

The grants are not going to be distributed on a first come, first serve basis, which means you'll have to pay attention to your application. The application period is from Jan 15th through Jan 25th. Click the button below to submit your application.

You must be a Michigan resident to apply, and you'll have to be able to prove that you worked in one of the qualifying industries affected by the partial shutdown. The industries that are eligible for the grants are listed below.

• Food Trucks
• Bowling Alleys
• Theaters
• Nightclubs
• Golf Courses
• Banquet Halls
• Caterers
• Casinos
• Cafeterias
• Other impacted industries

So many people in Michigan have been negatively impacted by these shutdowns, and even though they were done for the safety of all, it's put many of us in very tough situations. This money is long overdue, and sadly not enough to fix all of the damage done, but at least it's something.
