Reports have come in today that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has been killed near his hometown of Sirte.

The reports say that Gaddafi was fleeing his home after months of civil war during a NATO air raid.

Information from the transition council in Libya is saying that Gaddafi was injured severly in the head and legs as he tried to flee.

He eventually died because of the injuries early Thursday morning.

Fighting from Pro-Democracy rebels has waged on in Libya for months, with Gaddafi's forces slowly losing ground.

The overthrowing and killing of Gaddafi is just another step in that region toward Democracy.  Already Tunisia and Egypt have gone through similar struggles.

Once the U.S. confirms Gaddafi's death, expect to see President Barack Obama on TV talking about what this means for the U.S.
