New Michigan Bill Would Ban Pop Purchases With EBT Cards
If the legislation passes Michigan residents would not be able to use EBT (Electronic Bank Transfer) cards to purchase pop.
A new bill introduced by Republican representatives Beau LaFave and Ben Frederick is set to make purchasing pop with a EBT card a thing of the past.
House Bill 4278 would ban pop purchases for both the Michigan food assistance program and cash assistance program.
EBT cards in Michigan are part of a state program that provides help for those who need by providing funds to purchase food or other items approved by the state of Michigan.
In order to pass the bill, Republican reps LaFave and Frederick are seeking to petition the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service to ban the purchase of pop with EBT cards.
