Scammers Targeting Local Businesses Using Consumers Energy
Scammers are everywhere and never give. Always be sure you know what is legit and what is not. Police are warning local businesses of new scammers pretending to be Consumers Energy.
Be careful if you receive a phone call telling you that your power will be turned off in 30 minutes unless you do what they tell you. This is a scam. Grand Blanc Township Police Department shared this scam on their Facebook page. It is important to know that Consumers Energy will not act in this way. Never give any personal information out over the phone to someone like calling like this. Always contact Consumers, or whatever company you feel is acting shady, directly.
Personally, I am getting so sick of these calls. Most of us know right off the bat when a scammer is calling. Unfortunately, there are people out there that don't know any better and are too trusting when people call.
