Smoking has been linked to workers taking more time off due to health reasons, but have you ever thought about how much time smokers actually spend smoking?

Express did, and according to their study, smoke breaks might equal five weeks of vacation every single year!

Light smokers end up taking about 90 minutes worth of smoke breaks each week, or about 18 minutes a day.  Heavier smokers end up taking FIVE HOURS worth of smoke breaks each week, which is about 60 minutes a day.

Over 47 weeks of work a year (that's a year minus three weeks of vacation and two weeks of holidays) light smokers get an extra 70.5 hours worth of breaks, the equivalent of nine extra "vacation" days.

Heavy smokers get an extra 235 hours worth of breaks, the equivalent of 29 extra "vacation" days, or almost six weeks off.

This might cause a little tension at your workplace!  Do you have any issues with smokers taking so much time off to smoke?
