The Flint Public Art Project Receiving A $50,000 Grant

The Flint Public Art Project is getting a $50k grant to continue their work in Flint from the National Endowment For The Arts.

The art project has already done so many great things to help beautify Flint. The murals and park projects give every part of Flint new life. It's incredible to see how the vibe of an area can improve with a splash of art and culture. If you have not taken the time to drive around and see the new murals, I highly suggest it. The $50k grant from the National Endowment for the Arts will help make sure that the Flint Public Art Project can continue to put art and culture in the forefront in Flint.

The money is part of the Our Town project, and Flint was one of only 63 grant recipients chosen. The Flint Public Art Project is teaming up with the What's Up Downtown project to use the money on the new Saginaw Corridor project. According to the press release, there will be a few different organizations working together on this new project.

Flint Public Art Project will partner with What’s Up Downtown, Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village, and Genesee County Land Bank to coordinate and execute a series of creative placemaking pop-ups to re-imagine vacant lots, green spaces, and underutilized public places

If you drive around downtown, you can already see where these organizations have already done some great work with vacant lots.

I think one of the best things about driving through a new city is seeing the art and culture they've brought to the city itself. You can count museums and galleries, but the real heart and vibe of the city shines brightest when the art is in public spaces. That's the culture that Flint has done such a great job of embracing over the last couple of years.
