The new Flint Farmers' Market is expected to open downtown in May.  Due to some construction and weather setbacks, we should be able to shop in the new location for the farmers' market really soon.  Are you excited for the new move?

Flint Farmers' Market has been a staple in our community for years and it seems like the longevity is secure.  The market will move from the East Boulevard Drive location to the former Flint Journal printing building.  The new location will produce a new buzz for residents with 45 indoor vendors and 30 outdoor vendors.

The outdoor pavilion will not be ready for the May opening day due to freezing temperatures, according to MLive.  The new location will be two stories tall with two kitchens for vendors to rent for one hour at a time for cooking onsite.  Sean Gartland, the Culinary Director, is excited about the new possibilities of the new location.

"I plan on putting together a number of educational events in the demonstration kitchen," Gartland said. "It’s going to accommodate multiple people at tables around it at a counter top. It’s also a space that can be rented out for private parties, but it really is there for educational purposes."

The new move has so much potential to help our community improve from a economic perspective to educational opportunities.  No official May date has been revealed but get ready to shop the Flint Farmers' Market soon.
