Police are saying a school shooting may have been thwarted, and three teens have been locked up after possibly plotting the shooting at Linden High School and Middle School.

The only adult in the trio, 18-year old Ryan William Stevens from Linden, is being held at the Genesee County jail. Also under arrest are 15-year-old Lamar Michael Dukes of West Bloomfield and 15-year-old Cody Anthony Brewer of Wolverine Lake. The younger teens are being housed at the Genesee Regional Detention Center in Flint

WXYZ reports that the teens have been charged with Conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder and False report or threat of terrorism. All three are being charged as adults. If convicted on all charges, each could face life in prison.

Argentine police became aware of the possible plot on October 28th, and began working with the FBI. Police were then able to identify the suspects, and were able to obtain information about firearms that had been purchased and the targets of the plot.

Russ Ciesielski, Interim Superintendent of Linden Schools issued the following statement:

After becoming aware of the information, we worked with law enforcement, and within our district’s emergency procedures,  to ensure the safety of our students and staff.  The quick actions of our administrative staff, and law enforcement officials, helped to keep our schools out of harm's way.  Based on the information we were given, and communication with law enforcement, it was decided that the situation did not call for a “secure-mode” or “lock down."   The investigative process is in the hands of law enforcement; we will continue to correspond and cooperate with law enforcement as new information is discovered.
