Being sarcastic can be funny but no one is laughing at an uber sarcastic teen who is facing years in prison over a Facebook comment.  Making a joke online use to be overlooked but when your joke makes violent threats, be prepared for jail time.

Justin Carter, from Texas, was online going back in forth with a friend and a stranger about a video game. Justin decided to make a comment about shooting up a school and things went downhill from their.

Carter, who was 18 at the time, was talking reckless and didn't think people would notice.  Carter's dad told the local news what was on Facebook that got his son in so much trouble.

"Someone had said something to the effect of 'Oh you're insane, you're crazy, you're messed up in the head,’ to which he replied 'Oh yeah, I'm real messed up in the head, I'm going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts,'" recalled Justin's dad Jack. "The next two lines were lol and jk."

A unidentified woman saw Carter's comments and researched his home address through Google. After finding out that Carter stayed near a elementary school, she quickly informed the cops.

The sarcastic teen was arrested and charged with making terroristics threats which could land him in prison for up to eight years.  The police searched the home and found no weapons to carry out the mislead comments.  Justin's dad spoke on how his son is truly unaware of his statements.

"Justin was the kind of kid who didn't read the newspaper. He didn't watch television. He wasn't aware of current events," said Jack. "These kids, they don't realize what they're doing. They don't understand the implications. They don't understand public space."

I think the young man has learned his lesson and should be released from jail. Yes, his comments where dead wrong but are we making the situation better by locking him up?  I think the woman was doing the most but who knows, she could have saved lives.  Do you think we're overreacting by placing this kid in jail?  Leave your thoughts below in comment section.
