After last weekend's early snowfall, and with the first day of winter less than a month away, AAA Michigan is urging motorists to prepare their vehicles for winter.

AAA says 24 percent of service calls during the winter months can be attributed to dead batteries. Susan Hiltz, Public Affairs Director for AAA Michigan, says "winter driving can be stressful on both motorists and their vehicles. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to preparing your car for another Michigan winter." Some of the other service calls included flat tires and being locked out.

Among AAA's Winter Care Tips are having the battery and charging system tested to ensure they are fully charged and in good condition, making sure tires are properly inflated and making sure the engine coolant provides anti-freeze protection down to the lowest temperatures you are likely to encounter. The rest of AAA's tips can be found here.
