When you ask any NBA fan who wouldf ypu consider to be the toughest New York Knick ever? Two names automatically pops up. Charles Oakley and Anthony Mason. Unfortunately the latter the 48 year old Anthony Mason passed away earlier this morning, after having a heart attack about 2 weeks ago.

Anthony Mason played for 6 NBA teams but he will be remembered for being a key member of the New York Knicks.

Mason was known for two things his very unorthodox free throw shooting, and his very mean streak that was the identity of the New York Knicks and at that time the NBA.

NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing released this statement about his former teammate  "My heart is heavy after learning that we lost Anthony Mason last night ". "We were teammates on the Knicks for five great seasons. Mase came to play every night and was always ready to go to battle with me every time we stepped on the court together. I will remember him for his strength, determination and perseverance. My thoughts are with his family. May he rest in peace."
