Khiyah is a 13 year old girl with a smile that can light up a room. Like most girls her age she has her favorite shows and her favorite celebrities. Recently, she had the thrill of a lifetime thanks to Children's Miracle Network -Hurley Children Hospital.

Khiyah is a HUGE fan of America’s Got Talent and Everybody Hates Chris and especially a big fan of their star, Terry Crews.  Crews, who is from Flint and actually born at Hurley Hospital himself, made the little girls day with a very special "visit". The results will have you reaching for the Kleenex and warm your heart.

"I cannot even begin to describe how excited she was to meet 'Mr. Crews'. She told our Children’s Miracle Network Celebrity Partnerships Director that she didn’t sleep at all the night before their meeting!! I think her gorgeous smile says it all", said Brooklyn Sondgeroth, Assistant Director for CMN Programs at the Hurley Foundation.

Moments like this are so important to  "Hurley Kids". Khiyah has sickle cell disease which will be a lifelong battle for her, and for so many kids like her struggling with this illness. Unlike cancer where there is some element of “hope” for a cancer-free diagnosis down the road, sickle cell has no cure. Khiyah has already suffered several strokes due to her disease that have left her with a variety of physical ailments and speech impediments.  She has gone through so much at her young age.

CMN  shared the video and Khiyah's story about her special call. Since Sickle Cell is one of those diseases that rarely gets recognition, Khiyah’s mom was excited about the whole thing hoping that participating in the video meet and greet with Terry might bring some awareness about this disease to our community.

Crews was a graduated of Flint Southwestern High School and went on to receive a full football scholarship to Western Michigan University. He eventually played professional football until retiring from the NFL in 1997 to pursue an acting career. In 2014, Crews released his autobiography, Manhood: How to Be a Better Man or Just Live with One.
