Bill Belichick Credits Detroit Lions With Helping To Stop The Rams
When faced with stopping the most potent offense in the NFL, it's no surprise that Belichick looked to the Detroit Lions for inspiration.
Wait, maybe there is a little bit of surprise.
Actually, if I woke up this morning with my face sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be as surprised as I am about what Belichick said.
If you watch the ESPN post game interview video above, everyone kept asking Belichick how the Patriots were able to stop the Rams. He gave a bunch of vague plans they had, then specifically mentioned the Lions as a reference point. The conversation starts with Steve Young asking what influenced the game plan at 4:00.
We felt like if we could make them drive it, and make them earn it, similar to what the Lions did to them . . .
Did you hear it?! You should probably go back and listen to it again (I know I had to).
The Lions of all teams.
Keep in mind that the Lions beat the Patriots in the regular season, and now with this revelation from Belichick, we practically can claim a share of the 2019 NFL Championship!
So despite a terrible let down of a season this year, we are obviously going into the 2019/20 season as favorites to win the Superbowl!
