If you ever wanted to see Common and Black Thought in a rap battle here’s your chance. On Friday’s episode (Feb. 10) of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Com was a guest and he was invited to play a game of “Wheel of Freestyle” against his fellow lyricist Black Thought.

Both of them are lyrical beasts when it comes to freestyling off the dome so this was a real treat for rap fans and the crowd watching in the studio. Although it was friendly rap battle, the lyrical acrobatics that Com and Thought display was impressive.

Common had three words to choose from “Blender,” “Snowplow” and “Keanu.” The Chicago rhymer came through with an unique flow and changed the word snowplow to “snaw plaw.” We don’t have a clue what that is, it must be a Chicago thing.

Thought was up next and his words were “Blanket,” “IMAX” and “Cheeseburger.” The Roots MC deliver a fantastic rhyme scheme rapping, “I had a bottle of water / I drank it / I’m ice cold with it / Give me a blanket.” He also cleverly slipped in a famous Saturday Night Live skit with his “Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger” line that even Common could relate to.

Common was on the Tonight Show to promote his latest movie, John Wick 2, which also stars Kenau Reeves as the titular character. The rapper-actor plays an assassin named Cassian who battles John Wick. You can watch a snippet from the movie below.
