For the past couple of years, I've been wanting to go to an indoor climbing gym, one that focuses mainly on rock climbing. Unfortunately, if it's something you want to do, you're going to have to drive a bit.

After seeing photos of the brand new Dyno Detroit that just opened up today at 3500 Orleans St. near Dequindre Cut in the north end of Eastern Market, I know I have to make the drive and check it out. This place looks awesome.

Dyno Detroit owner, Dino Ruggeri:

I wanted to share climbing with people who might not have had an opportunity to try it otherwise. To provide a gateway to this outdoor lifestyle, to this identity of a climber. I thought it would be a really cool addition to the city that’s not a restaurant, not a bar, or shopping. It’s something that’s really accessible.

If this place was in Genesee County, I would sign up and become a member immediately. Not only do they feature indoor rock climbing but they also have a full fitness set up and offer yoga as well.

As of right now, walk-ins are not permitted but you can easily make a reservation for a future climb. I highly suggest taking a class there to learn a bit before you get after it. I also want to check out Planet Rock Climbing Gym which has locations in Ann Arbor and Madison Heights.
