A special place in Hell is being prepared for a Flint man who was caught on camera beating a puppy in his front yard. A neighbor's video surveillance system captured the images of Lovell Farmer beating the one-year-old dog with a broom.

Flint police arrested the 38-year-old Flint man after neighbors called police to report the abuse. The man is seen in the video (below) grabbing the animal by her hind legs and dragging her. He then beats her with a short-handled broom.

According to our news partner Mid-Michigan Now, the man told police officers that he was punishing the dog and attempting to train her after she ran away.

It was not a good day for Farmer. In addition to the animal-abuse related charges, police also found him in possession of 10 grams of cocaine.

Farmer has been charged with Animal Abuse, Neglect, Torture, Misdemeanor Abandoning an Animal, and Controlled Substance Delivering and Manufacturing of Cocaine.

Sheriff Chris Swanson issued praise to the neighbors who called police in order to report the abuse.

"This is a great thank you to you, those neighbors who saw this and said, 'That's it, we're not going to stand for it,'" Swanson said at a news conference.

He went on to say that this type of behavior isn't going to be overlooked in Genesee County.

"You are not going to get away with beating, abusing, or taking advantage of vulnerable people in this county," the sheriff said.

The puppy, who has since been named Sweet Pea, is now in the care of a foster family and said to be doing much better.
