The transformation of Atwood Stadium in Flint from football field to ice rink is complete, and will be open to the public today (Friday).

Kettering hosts the public grand opening of the Atwood ice rink with skating sessions Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  It's absolutely free to skate, but you'll need to bring your own skates. The stadium will be staffed with personnel ready to handle first aid needs, and Kettering's public safety officers will be on site as well.

Atwood has been a Flint landmark for the last 86 years, and even though the stadium has spent the last decade falling apart, this might be the start of something big.  The venue is such a great place that needs to be used in a way where everyone from Genesee County is able to enjoy it.  The rink might be the kind of kickstart that is needed.
