The American Lung Association gives out report cards in each county for air quality. They grade on things like ozone, particle pollution in 24 hours, and particle pollution annually.

The good news on the Genesee County report card is that we passed the particle pollution portion of the test. Our particle pollution over a 24 hour period was graded a B. The bad news is that we failed the ozone test with a F grade. According to the American Lung Association, Genesee County had a total of 13 orange ozone days. Orange days mean that the air quality is unhealthy.

Knowing that we are not alone does not fix the problem, but being aware of the problem should lead to changes that can improve our air quality over time.
