Governor Gretchen Whitmer responded on Twitter to Trump claiming that he was going to send federal law enforcement to control Detroit.

Trump made the statements during a press conference Monday where he blamed the civil unrest on Democrat law makers in specific states. When asked what he was going to do about it, he made the comment concerning Detroit.

I'm going to do something, that I can tell you. Because we're not going to let New York and Chicago and Philadelphia and Detroit and Baltimore and all of these — Oakland is a mess. We're not going to let this happen in our country. All run by liberal Democrats

We all know that Gov Whitmer and Trump don't often see eye to eye, and this time is no different. Even though Detroit was not the focus of Trump's rant this time, he did slip in the Motor City. I can't figure out why because the vast majority of protests in Detroit and all of Michigan have been peaceful and productive.

Big Gretch agrees.

You can read the full statement from Gov Whitmer and AG Dana Nessel here. In the statement, AG Dana Nessel backed Governor Whitmer by adding,

We are a nation of laws, and the President’s attempts to intimidate our communities with threats of violence could not be more un-American

Congresswoman Rashida Talib took a moment to let her feelings be known on Twitter as well.

I know this will only cause people to argue, but I LOVE the fact that we have a Governor, and legislative team that's not scared to stand up to Trump. She doesn't attack him randomly, she just points out when he is inaccurate about Michigan concerned topics.
