If you are in danger of being evicted, you now have until July 15th to stay in your home. Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order on the matter today.

Governor Whitmer made the following statement,

'No Michigander should have to worry about losing their home during a global health pandemic and, at the same time, landlords and management companies need rent from their tenants to sustain their businesses. This innovative new program will save lives, save money, and save businesses by keeping families in their homes and providing immediate financial relief to landlords for back rent they’re due.'

I cannot even imagine having to worry about having a roof over my head. Unfortunately, that is not the case for a lot of Michiganders. Before anyone is quick to judge someone that cannot pay their rent or mortgage, maybe just maybe, a lot of these folks are out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic? Also, this program does help landlords too.

I know a lot of people that did, and having to file for unemployment (when most of the state of Michigan was as well), was no easy task. Some people are still having a hard time. If you are facing eviction and need more information, click here.
