Gov.Whitmer has just proclaimed May 3rd through May 7th as Teacher Appreciation Week.

I love anything that supports education, and I feel like it's not focused on enough. Our teachers play a critical role in our community development and sometimes we take them for granted. I know I did! I was a total nightmare as a child, and as an adult, I look back at the amazing teachers that took the time to help mold me into the person I am today.

“Teachers always go the extra mile for their students, but through the COVID-19 pandemic they have gone above and beyond to adapt to online learning and support their students,” said Whitmer

"We must always celebrate our teachers for their passion and commitment, and the joy they bring to educating our students and crafting our future,” said David Hecker, president of AFT Michigan.

I salute anyone that has the courage to pursue education and strive to be an amazing teacher. Great teachers can leave an impact on a child that they will carry for the rest of their lives. So I'm all in for Teacher Appreciation Week. Heck, we need a whole month!
