Grand Blanc Girls Lacrosse Hosts ‘Charlie Carmody Night’ To Help Family of Fallen Teacher
When the voice of Grand Blanc sports, Charlie Carmody, suddenly passed two weeks ago, the community was in shock.
Now the healing process begins as the Grand Blanc Girls Lacrosse team hosts 'Charlie Carmody Night'. Head coach, John Wainio talked to Clay this morning about the decision to honor Mr. Carmody tonight.
The girls and I knew that our first home game would be the perfect time to honor Charlie. I'm sure that the Football and Basketball teams will do something when their season come around, but this was perfect timing for us.
Wainio also talked about the importance of the event to bring the community together to celebrate the man who had such a positive impact on Grand Blanc. While this will definitely be an emotional night for everyone, it is meant to be a celebration of Carmody, and his legacy.
Fans are encouraged to show up to the field between 5 and 5:30pm tonight to take part in the celebration. The game will start at 6pm sharp. All of the proceeds from the gate will go toward the education fund set up for Mr. Carmody's two children.
