In my opinion, it seems a little early to pull the plug on a 4th of July fireworks show but that is exactly what Holly and Corunna are doing.

According to Mid-Michigan Now, the Village of Holly and City of Corunna have canceled their fireworks celebration scheduled for July 4th, 2020.

From the Village of Holly Council and Administration:

"We are disappointed, yet we know because this event is so popular and draws a very large crowd, it is the best option. Even if restrictions have been modified by then, we determined that it would not be safe to have such a large crowd gathered during this pandemic. While this was a very difficult decision, we feel it is necessary to continue our efforts to keep the Village safe and to deter the spread of the COVID-19 virus."

In their defense, events like this cost a lot of money and take a lot of time and effort to plan out. It's not like they can wait until the last minute to make a decision.

I think over the next few months we're going to see a lot more event cancelations. We'll see everything from events on the 4th of July to major concerts around the state. Not too mention graduation parties, sporting events, fairs, and many other gatherings.
